    summer with family
Having an enjoyable summer.  Nothing like time to spend with your chiid watching her grow and learn.  She has really gotten into the Wii fit,  She's leaning most of the games,  The only thing I dont like is the fact that it models poor sportsman ship when you dont do well.  For example she pounds her fist into the ground at the end of the soccer header game just line the mii models.  We have to tell her thats being a poor sport and you shouldnt do it..  The other shorcoming is it dosent adjust for the very young, she has a Wii fit age of 29 and shes a toddler!  They need a mod for ages 2-10

    Excellent convention long drive home
What more can you say about Shoreleave, one of the best conventions of the year. We had a great convention and I got to run around in my 20 year old doctor costume with my daughter in her Andy panda Sarah Jane costume. Some wag commented " I dont remember her traveling with your doctor" Funny I dont remember her being three years old when she traveled with the Doctor. But all in all two great performaces Potter live in 45 and the Masquerade halftime. The drive home was much lower stress than the drive up. No traffic backups this time.

    Primeval
Wow are ITV a bunch of fools, killing the goose that laid the golden egg. Hopefully they (Impossible Pictures) will release a direct to video final episode so we get a decent end to this series.

    Life on Mars review
It’s been a while since I posted but as a fan of the British series I thought I should put my thoughts out. My feeling is that they tried too hard to recreate the feel of the BBC series. I know that they had to rewrite portions to make it palatable for an American audience and at least that worked. Sam looked similar to the BBC Sam, Ray, Chris and Annie were similar too. But where they really missed the mark was with the casting of Gene Hunt, I mean what’s with Grampa Moses as Gene Hunt? Old, scrawny and short don’t even come close to conveying the feeling of threat mixed with charisma that Philip Glenister carried throughout the series. The acting was stiff they seemed almost parodies of 70's not actually inhabiting their parts. I'll give it another episode but I'm not hopeful.

    August blues
The end of summer approached when I must return to the world of the mundane. It has been a good summer, time with family, much Doctor Who watching, RC K-9, and watching my munchkin grow up a little

    Babys first week home
Wow! so many diapers. I had changed my share, but I was not ready for the quantity that a newborn generates. She's sleeping better now that we have given up on her sleeping in the pack and play alone, now she sleeps in the bouncy chair in the pack and play. I am so glad that we are teachers and can use the Family leave act to its fullest. I cant imagine trying to work and survive the babies first week home.

on the Doctor Who side, Ricky/Micky and the Cybermen are too cool. The wire was a total bitch, (had to watch tat episode twice due to babys crying fit)

    c-section and Fear
Well the baby has not turned and we have a C-section coming up. I dont know why it scares the hell out of me. Possibly because its major abdominal surgery, possibly because I dont know if I could deal if something happened. The Unknown always is the most frightening part of life. Tomorrow if everything goes well, I'm a daddy, I pray that it goes well. If it dosent I dont know what I will do. . . Prayer its all I have.

    breach
The baby is still breach, our minister said a prayer to have her turn to the proper position. I really don't want to see her come into this world via c-section. Other than that she is a healthy young lady. on the Doctor Who front we just watched Girl in the Fireplace. It was a good followup to School Reunion. It hits upon the same theme of loneliness for the Doctor. Cybermen next week.

    New Favorite Dr Who episode
I just got to see School Reunion, WOW! what a fantastic episode. Tennent was in his element. He seemed so happy to be playing the role. He had his fanboy moments, the smile at Liz Slayden was so genuine, more than just seeing an old friend after years apart. I'm really enjoying this season. I've been a Doctor Who fan since the early eightys when it was showing on public tv. The series has grown so much in this latest release. My wife and I watched the episode twice (a couple of hours between viewings) so we could catch all the details. The producers really have done well, catching the detail from the old series but still allowing it to have its own life.

    the Baby's heartbeat
Another fetal non stress test, she's a kicker, her heart rate went up 10 points when I started talking. I hope it was me and not some other external influence. The Doctor (its fun to write that) says she's doing well. Just a few more weeks till she's born. I'm glad I have new Who to keep me sane.

Conventions and the baby to be
sometimes I wonder, if it will all work out. Performing at conventions and having the new baby. I am really looking forward to fatherhood, but sometimes I worry about maintaining the balance. The group had great reaction to our show at Ravencon. But it totally wiped out the wife. She is our sound tech, runs the audio for our comedy sketches. We will have to work out what we are going to do when the little one arrives. Time will be the big factor.

    Deb's suggestion to try this.
Well I thought I'd try this whole journal thing. I guess its a good way to get my thoughts down. Its about four weeks until the birth our first child. I'm a little nervous about it. both of us are older and its not been an easy pregnancy. My wife's gestational diabetes has put her in the high risk category. So we are enduring the twice weekly fetal non stress tests. The only thing that is working out is that we are both teachers and this means our school year will end early and we'll have the summer to get used to the whole mommy and daddy thing. We are being insane and still going to attempt to perform at Shoreleave (science fiction convention in MD.)
